• September 19: Deadline for submitting songs. 3234 entries were sent to SVT.

• September 22: The host cities were announced.

• October 10: The 28 songs were presented. The jury behind the decision were: Peter Nyrén (43 years), SVT and chairman; L-G Alsenius (46), producer Svensktoppen; Susanne Tellinger (48), music editor P4, Héléne Benno (50), SVT; Åsa Paues (45), SVT; Micke Cederberg (42), producer P3; Ulrica Örn (37), SVT; Matthias Matsson (35), stockbroker; Martin Österdahl (32), project leader Melodifestivalen 2007; Sherko Alemdar (34), project leader SVT; Mia Alnervik (34), freelance editor; Daniela Miteska (27), singer/dancer; Nathalie Rosenberg (25), dancer; Per Björkdahl (23), wrote to SVT and wanted to join the jury; Madeleine Cameron (19), wrote to SVT and wanted to join the jury; Ludvig Lundgren (14), wrote to SVT and wanted to join the jury.

• October 13: "More than a girl", written by Agnes Carlsson, Ulf Lindström and Johan Ekhé, was disqualified since Agnes has told the title in an interview some days before the entries were announced. SVT thought that was too much information for the jury to keep neutral. Another reason could have been the fact that Agnes, in the same interview, said she was not interested to perform the song, which SVT could have forced her to do since she sang on the demo.

• October 16: "Alla kan bli stjärnor", written by Michael Clauss, Thomas Thörnholm and Sebastian Fronda, was disqualified. Sebastian Fronda, who sang on the demo, and his record company did not want him to perform in Melodifestivalen. SVT claimed the entry was tied with Sebastian Fronda, and would not be able to find a suitable performer for the song.

• October 17: Aftonbladet newspaper wrote Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson, a popular tv-duo, would host the show. Both SVT and the guys denied the statement. Later they revealed they turned the offer down.

• October 18: SVT presented two new songs to replace the disqualified entries; "Cara Mia", written by Fredrik Kempe and Henrik Wikström, and "Allt vi en gång trodde på", written by Johan Kinde.

• November 1: SVT announced Kristian Luuk as host of Melodifestivalen 2007.

• November 28: All the artists, except the wild cards, were presented.

• December 26: The four wild cards were presented in a special tv-programme.

• There were much speculations in the media about the wild cards. Charlotte Perrelli, Helena Paparizou, Basshunter (Jonas Altberg) confirmed they were contacted by SVT. Other names were Dr Alban, Ace of Base, Europe, Hammerfall, Thomas DiLeva, Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus.

• Charlotte Perrelli was very close to enter the contest as a wild card. She said: "It has never been as close as this year, but now I decided to decline."

• At first The Ark declined an invitation, and reacted to the rumours at their website: ""Guess what? NOT the least bit true. The Ark will never be part of the Eurovision song contest, EVER. End of story." Then they changed their minds.

• Ola Salo from The Ark submitted a song in Swedish he had written for a friend. According to Ola Salo it was rejected in the very last selection.

• Evan sent two songs to the jury and one of them was among the last songs to be rejected.

• Marcos Ubeda, composer of "Never let it go", "Aqua playa" etc, submitted three songs, but none of them was selected.

• Kurt Olsson, alias Lasse Brandeby, was almost chosen as a wild card with the song "Inte för stor för en schlager", written by Dan Attlerud och Thomas Thörnholm.

• "Samba sambero" was specially written for Anna Book, but she also submitted a song called "Dansar mot kärleken", written by Thomas Thörnholm and Ingela "Pling" Forsman. Anna Book was also offered to sing another of the selected songs.

• Ola Svensson, from Swedish Idol 2005, turned down an offer to get one of the four wildcards.

• Sofia Berntsson participated with "Hypnotized". But she also submitted a ballad, which came very far in the selection.

• Both After Dark and Magnus Ugglas were offered to sing "Värsta schlagern", a song Markoolio and Linda Bengtzing got a huge hit with outside the contest. Markoolio was also offered to perform "Värsta schlagern" as a wildcard in 2007. Swedish comedian - and Melodifestivalen host in 2003 - Jonas Gardell was also offered the song, but he did not think it was his style.

• Daniel Mitsogiannis sang on the demo to "Cara Mia".
